The Berkeley Scientific Journal accepts applications from interested UC Berkeley undergraduate students at the beginning of every semester. Applications for the Spring 2024 semester are now closed.
First-semester journal staff are required to enroll in the 2-unit DeCal (Democratic Education at Cal) course that accompanies our organization. Our staff writers are trained in practice of science journalism and communication.
Science Journalism Outreach Initiative
The Berkeley Scientific Journal is also committed to inspiring the next generation of aspiring scientists by fostering youth interest in STEM in the Berkeley area and beyond.
To assist this endeavor, we have developed a semester long, online science journalism program for high school students to develop their skills in scientific writing, research, and communication. More details may be found at the link below.
